Mur::hy Revis Status: Complete The Inservice Inspection Section of the Materials Engineering Branch, Division of Engineering, has reviewdd the circumstances of the February 28, 1980 steam generator leak occurence and the results of the subsequent steam generator inspection at Point Beach Unit 2.

Infomation reviewed included LER-80-2 dated February 29, 1980 as subsesuently uodated on March 12, April 16. and May 16,1980 and additional information submitted by letter dated April 25, 1980. We have concluded on the basis of our review that the Unit 2 steam ganerators have been adequately inspected and that the condition of the steam generators is adequate for continued safe operation. Our Safety Evaluation is attached (Attachment A).

In addition, we have reviewed the March 13, 1980 petition filed by Wisconsin's Environmental Decade, Inc. requesting that an Order to Show Cause and an Order enjoining operation of Point Beach Unit 2 because of steam generator tube degradation. Our input to the response to the petition is also attached (Attachment B).
