Dear Mr. Cerusky:

On February 7, 1972, the tirector of Regulation of the Atomic Energy Conmission issued an order suspending activities for Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station, Unit 2 involving off-site right-of-way clearing and construction of the Juniata trammission lines pending completion of a review of the envircumen al impact of such activities under the Commission's regulations implementir.g the National Environ-mental Policy Act of 1969 (NEPA),10 C7R Part 50, Appendir D.

The staff's Fisic'. Environmental Statement for the Threc Hile Island Nuclear Station was issued in Dectaber,1972. Based on the findings expressed therein, and in the doctment entitled "Amanded Discussion and Findings by the Directorate of Licensing, U. S. Atomic Energy Comission Relating tc Consideration of Susp.tnsion Pendfag NEPA Environmental Review of the *rovisional Constru: tion Fernits for the Three Mile Island Nuclear Generating Station, Units 1 and 2," dated December 9, 1972, the Director of Regulation has now deteicained that activities involving off-site right-of-way clearing and construction of the Juniata transmission line should no longer be suspended.

In reaching this determination, the Director of Regulation has also considered the need for completion of the Jimiata line segnent to provide adequate reliability for transmission of mver from Western to Eastern Pennsylvania.

In view of the foregoing, the &tropolitan Edison Company has been notified of the above " Determination" dated April 2, 1973 and the

" Order" dated April 2, 1973 to this effact. The " Order" becomes DPD
