3Ep 2 01979 Those on Attached List Gentlemen:

Subject:

The Use,of Time Series Analysis in Nuclear' Reactor Safety Applications Enclosed for your information and review is a paper on "The Use of Time Series Analysis in Nuclear Reactor Safety Applications," which was prepared by Dr. Robert Albrecht at the request of RSR.

In FY 1980, we plan to authorize ORNL to study the use of time series analysis as an alternative and/ur supplement to their current technique using spectral density or correlation methods.

Dr. Albrecht has presented an excellent summary of the principles of time series analysis and in addition has made many suggestions for its application in modeling and control.

I would be pleased to receive any ccmments and send them to Bob.Albrecht if you so wish.

Sincerely, William S. Farmer, Chairman Noise Diagnostics and Surveillance Research Review Group Division of Reactor Safety Research
