Subj: Quality assurance progran for radioactive material shipping packages associated with radiography Paf:

Purcose. To establish ard maintain an auditable QA progran for shipping packages for rMwetive material associated with radicgraphy.
2.
Background. Peference (a), establishes the recuirenent for Srni IAKE to execute the subject QA program and states the recuired attrihutes of tim p-Pm-3.
Scoce. 'Ihis instruction applies only to shipping packages intended for use with radioactive material associated with radiography. It specifically does not apply to shipping of radioactive materials associated with naval nuclear propulsion plants.

Procedures. Enclosure (1) is hereby established as the basic QA program for SHD4 IAKE for designing, purchasing, fabricati.g, bandling, sblppi.g, storing, cleaning, assenbling, inspecting, testing, operating, maintaining, repairing, and mcdifying packages for use in shipcing radioactive raterials associated with radiography. Enclosure (2) contains nore detailed instruc-tions and responsibilities for executing this OA p w at.
