Dear Mr. Nash:
This will confim your recent telephone conversations with Elaine Hemby regarding your application dated January 17, 1979 for the export of generators, turbine generator sets, and miscellaneous parts to Japan for use in the Fukushima 6 reactor.
At your suggestion we contacted General Electric Company, who will be supplying the equipment, to confirm that all of the parts are to be used in the steam turbine generator portion of the nuclear reactor facility and that no items listed in Appendix A of Part 110 of the NRC's export regulations are to be exported. General Electric confimed this understanding.
Accordingly, this letter will confirm that the equipment requested in your application is under the licensing authority of the Department of Commerceiand that an NRC license is not required. We are therefore returning your application without action. We understand that your Company will submit an application to the Department of Connerce for a license to export these items.
