Dear Mr. Hall:
Thank you for your letter of March 22, 1979 requesting infonnation relative to the hearings which are planned prior to the issuance of an operating license for the Shoreham Nuclear Power Station.
The hearings will likely be held on Long Islard in the relative vicinity of the Shoreham facility. These hearings will occur prior to the operation of the Shoreham facility, which is presently anticipated for the latter half of 1980. The exact date for the hearing, as well as the precise hearing location, will be determined by the Atomic Safety and Licensing Board and will be the subject of a future notice in the Federal Register.
Relative to your request for information regarding the filming of the upcoming hearings, such hearing coverage is governed by the Nuclear Regulatory Commission's General Statement of Policy of February 1,1978, 43 Fed. Reg. 4294, a copy of which is enclosed. A copy of the Iress release, issued contemporaneously with the General Statement of Policy, is also enclosed.
