C. 20555 License No. DPR-35 Docket No. 50-293 Request for an Extension to the Offsite Dose Calculation Manual

Dear Sir:

In a letter to all Boiling Water Reactor Licensees, dated November 15, 1978, you presented substantive revisions to the Draft Radiological Effluent Tech-nical Specifications, that were originally sent to Boston Edison Company on July 11, 1978. The major difference in these specifications from the previous ones, was the removal from the specifications of the equations for dose cal-culations, setpoint determination and meteoroligical dispersion factors. These items are now required to be included in the Offsite Dose Calculation Manual (ODCM) to be prepared by the licensee and submitted for review and approval along with proposed Technical Specifications by February 13, 1979.

The preparation of the ODCM involves both our Health Physics and Environmental Science Groups, who during this same time frame must prepare the following reports:

- Semi-annual Effluent and Waste Disposal Report (Reg. Guide 1.21)

- Environmental Monitoring Report

- Man-Rem and Dose Distribution Report (116 Report)

- Dose Distribution by Exposure Categories Report (20.407 report)

- Inhouse ALARA Report 2
