MEMORANDUM FOR:
A. Schwencer, Chief, Operating Reactors Branch #1, D0R FROM:
G. Lainas, Chief, Plant Systems Branch, 00R I
SUBJECT:
SAFEYY EVALUATION REPORT - PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 - EVALUATION OF l
SAFETY INJECTION SYSTEM ACTUATION TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION CHANGE REQUEST (TACS 11634/11635) i The Plant Systems Branch has reviewed Northern States Power Company's submittal of April 26, 1979 in which the licensee requested amendments to Facility Operating Licenses DPR-42 and DPR-60 to incorporate changes to the Technical Specifications for the Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant, Unit; 1 and 2.
The proposed change is the result of a modification proposed in response to the directions of IE Bulletin No.79-06A dated April 14, 1979.
l l
The amendments proposed changes to the Technical Specifications which j
relate to modifications to the Safety Injection (SI) actuation system logic.
The design change requested is thet an SI signal be developed i
by a two-of-three low pressurizer pressure signal instead of a one-of-i three coincidence of low pressurizer pressure and level signal.
Based on our review, we conclude that the modifications to the SI actuation system logic satisfy the requirements of IEEE 279-1971 and that the associated Technical Specifications are correct; and therefore, are acceptable.
