SUMMARY
OF SEPTEMBER 27, 2019, PUBLIC MEETING WITH NUCLEAR ENERGY INSTITUTE REGARDING CHANGE CONTROL PROCESS FOR NEWLY DEVELOPED METHODS On September 27, 2019, the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff held a public meeting1 with representatives from the Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss the path forward for developing and issuing Revision 3 to Regulatory Guide (RG) 1.200, An Approach for Determining the Technical Adequacy of Probabilistic Risk Assessment [(PRA)] Results for Risk-Informed Activities.
During the meeting, the NRC staff discussed current status of the revision to the RG with a focus on how it would support NEI 17-07, Performance of PRA Peer Reviews Using the ASME/ANS [American Society for Mechanical Engineers/American Nuclear Society] PRA Standard, and joint efforts to revise Technical Specifications Task Force (TSTF) Traveler TSTF-505, Provide Risk-Informed Extended Completion Times - RITSTF Initiative 4b, to allow usage of newly developed methods using an NRC-endorsed process.2 Additionally, the NRC staff presented an overall summary of the schedule and path forward for revision of the RG.3 1 The original meeting notice is available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) under Accession No. ML19255G073.
