Enclosed please find seven (7) Oopies of Foster Wheeler Energy Corporation procedure " Radiation Safety - Quality Assu ance Requirements for Radiography Source Shipments", Revision 1, dated May h, 1979 Paragraph 10, I of this procedure has been revised to reflect the co==ents noted in reference 2 soove. It should be noted that paragraph h.3 already indicates that activities relating to our radiog aphy packages will be audited by the Senior Radiographer, who has no direct responsibility in these areas.

In addition, please amend your records to remove the name of W.C. Marion, who has retired.

1.0 PURPOSE :

The purpose of this procedure is to delineate the FaEC quality assurance program for the shipments of radioactive radiography sources, as required by 10 CPR Part 71.31 and Part 71, Appendix E.

2.0 SCOPE

This procedure describes the FWEC quality assurance program pertainirg to the shipments of radiography sources, as authorized by NRC license 29-03369-03 issued to FaEC pursuant to 10 C33, Part 3h, and Agreement State licenses.

It includes the identification of specified responsibilities, document control, use of procedures, records, ard audits. This CA program does not include the design ard fabrication of radioactive caterial devices ard shipping containers.

h.1 It is the responsibility of the " Responsible Management Officials" to assure that a QA program, as described in this procedure, is established, i=ple=ented, and maintained as required by 10 CFR, Part 71 h.2 It is the responsibility of the Manager, Quality Assurance to approve changes to the FnEC " Quality Assurance Department-0peratir4 Procedures" Manual, of which this procedure is a part.

8.0 I'ISFECTIcti, TEST, A'ID OpERATEG STATUS:

8.1 The inspection, testing, ard deter =ination of operating status of devices will be perfomed in accordance with liRC approved written procedures.

8.2 The operating status of devices shall be docucented and devices marked in accordance with written procedures.

8.3 Devices found to be in non-conformance will be identified as such and segregated, ard the Senior Radiographer notified in accordance with written procedures.

9.0 RECORDS

9.1 The following records will be caintained in accordance with written procedures:

10.0 AUDITS:

10.1 Audits will be perfomed at set frequencies as part of the Padiation Safety progran, as per Reference Iocument 3 2.

As a minimum, audits will be annual.

10.2 Audit results will be maintained ard reported to management.

10 3 Audit results will be evaluated and open ites follow-ups will be done in accordance with witten precedures.
