Dear Sir:

Subject:

Cont ainment Pressure Model for Maine Yankee ECCS Performance Evaluation In your letter, Reference (c), you determined that the present version of our ECCS evaluation model consisting of RELAP 4 EM, RELAP 4-FLOOD and TOODEE 2 was acceptable for analyses of loss of coolant accidents at Maine Yankee and acceptable on a generic basis for YAEC PWR reload licensing applications. The containment pressure response used in the sample cal-culation presented in our evaluation model (Reference b) was based on a Combustion Engineering analysis performed for Maine Yankee Cycle 3 loading.

As stated in our submittal and in your evaluation, future licensing calculations to be submitted for the Maine Yankee reload and subsequent licensing submittals will be performed using the CONTEMPT-LT Version 26 code.

Through discussions with members of your staff, it is apparent that you can provide a more accurate assessment of these future calculations with the assistance of this model. Accordingly, we have enclosed for your information and use, a copy of the Containment Pressure Model for Maine Yankee ECCS Performance Evaluation which is based on the CONTEMPT-LT Version 26 Code.

We trust this information will be of service to you.

However, should you have any questions, please contact us.

(

Very truly yours, I
