Dear Mr. Hoyle:

Enclosed please find an application from Radium Chemical Company, Inc. for a license to export 150,000 curies of tritium in gaseous form to Radium-Chemie Ltd. in Switzerland.

As you will note, the material ultimately will be used by different end users for various end uses. To assist the Executive Branch in its review of this license request, we requested the following additional information from the applicant:

1)

Justification from Brandhurst or applicant of 40,000 curie request (2nd license) 2)

Total amount of tritium to be resold as gar,

including names of the companies receiving over 1,000 curies (3rd license)

We will forward this information to you upon receipt.

If you require further information, please let us know.

Before taking action on this license application, we would appreciate your views, in accordance with established procedures and from the overall perspective of the Executive Branch, as to whether the issuance of the requested license would be inimical to the interests of the United States, including the common defense and security.
