Dear Sir:
During the past year there have been no substantive changes in the mode of operation or use of the WPI Open Pool Reactor Facility.
During the time period of July 17 to October 16 the Facility Director was on leave of absence and Professor John Mayer, a faculty member and senior licensed operator, served as acting Director.
We currently have 3 senior licenses at the facility and 3 operator licenses. Three candidates for orarator licenses are expected to take their examination in February, 1979.
Our by-product material license has been renewed and no other license amendments are currently pending.
Our 20-year old Facility license expires next November, however, so we expect to work on renewal require-ments in the months ahead.
Our annual major overhaul of reactor rod devices and components was performed as usual during the summer months and all systems were found in excellent condition.
No major repairs or modifications were required.
Our demineralizer resin was replaced for the first time in a number of years, however.
Our student enrollment and laboratory procedures continue to be the same as reported in our January 11, 1978 annual report.
