Dear Sir,
AJCic/ /)- $ -78 The South Texas Project (Houston Lighting and Power Company, et. al.)
is a nuclear generating station presently under construction in Bay City, TX. According to quarterly summaries of construc tion-related ac tivities published by the N.R.C., that project has been subject to several surprise inspections by the staff in the last eight months.
TexPIRG makes the following request under 5 U.S.C. s 552.
With regard to regulatory inspections of that facility, please mail to us the following: (1) statements of fact and observation and summary memoranda submitted by inspectors in conjunction with the July to Sept-ember, 1978 inspections; (2) correspondence between the N.R.C. 3taff and Applicant Manager Houston Lighting and Power Company regarding the need for and results of the JulyWSeptember, 1978 inspections; (3) enforce-ment documents and any correspondence between the N.R.C. staff and Applicant Manager Houston Lighting and Power Company related to the false documentation of quality assurance at the S.T.P. site, as alleged in inspections of the Spring and Summer time period of 1978.
I realize that the photocopying costs for the above may be appreciable.
If such costs are $20 or less, please bill me at the time of mailing such documents. If those costs are higher, I would appreciate a call from the staff so that I might clarify the request.
I appreciate your time and effort in responding to this request.
