DEC 141979 M. L. Properties, Incorporated ATTN: Ms. Suzanna C. Russell 929 Massachusetts Avenue Cambridge, Massachusetts 02139 Gentlemen:

Subject:

Licensed Activities at 239 First Street, Cambridge, Massachusetts This refers to your letter dated November 30, 1979.

As per your request we have searched our records and find no evidence that the 239 First Street facility was occupied by persons who would have reason to use radioactive materials.

I need to emphasize, however, that our records are listed by licensee and not by buildings. Therefore, our review is not conclusive and is, infact, in conflict with the recollection of one of our inspectors.

Since a complete survey by our inspector revealed no radioactive materials and since the 3 vials contained minimal amounts of radioactivity, we have concluded that the building does not contain any hidden radioactive hazards, and no further action by this office is contemplated.

If you have any further questions regarding this matter, please contact me on 2Q-337-5206.

Sincerely fg Af Robert 0. McClintock, Chief Materials Radiological Protection Section 2364 211 80 0 2 010 z + 2_
