9 Date: October 10, 1979, PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF EVENT OR UNUSUAL OCCURRENCE--FNO-III-79-12 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE safety or public interest significance.
The inferination presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and in basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

PRESS CONFERUTCE Tne Region III Director and meebers of his staff will hold a Press Conference at 11:00 a.c. on October 10, 1979. The purpose of the Press Conference, which is being held in Madison, Indiana is to nur=arize for representatives of cevs media the !TRC's activities related to the Marble Hill Nuclear Project.
Reports of inspections associated with the recent termination of construction vork at the plant will be released to the public at that tice.
A press release was issued by the NRC. The State of Indiana has been notified. A copy of the Regional Director's statement has been given to Congressnen who have exhibited interest in IIRC activities at the plant.
