PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION June 18, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-61 This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.

Portland General Electric Company Trojan Docket No. 50-344 Rainier, Oregon
Subject:
B0MB THREAT On June 7, 1979, at 10:45 a.m. PST, an unknown male called the Portland General Electric Corporate office and gave the following message:
"Unless you shutdown Trojan within the next week, I'm going to bomb it.
You had better get everyone out of there because I'm going to use a missile." The licensee did not conduct a search of the facility and did not notify the lacal law enforcement.
There has been no explosion to date. Media interest is not expected by the licensee and no press release is planned by the licu asee or the NRC.
The State of Oregon was notified.
The IAT was notified.
NRC, Region V (San Francisco) received telephone notification from the licensee at 12:45 p.m. PST, on June 7, 1979.
