PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION February 28, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT - PNS-79-16
_This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSIBLE national security or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff as of this date.
_ FACILITY:
Tennessee Valley Authority Sequoyah Unit Nos. 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-327 and 50-328 Daisy, Tennessee
SUBJECT:
BOMB THREAT A bomb threat was received by telephone at the Sequoyah Nur' ear Plant main-gate at 10:05 p.m. on Febru"y 27, 1979.
The unidentified male caller stated:
"Has it gone off yet?." The~ licensee did not evacuate the plant.
A search was conducted and no evidence of a bomb was found.
A similiar bomt threat was received on February 26 (PNS-79-15).
There is no media interest in this event.
A news release is not planned by the NRC or the licensee.
The State of Tennessee and the Knoxville, Tennessee FBI have been notified.
The IAT has been notified.
NRC Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by telephone from the licensee at 10:00 a.m. on February 28, 1979.
