PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION February 26, 1979 PRELIMINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-15

The information presented i_s as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically
_all that is known by IE staff as of this date.
F_ACILITY: Tennessee Valley Authority Sequoyah Nuclear Plant, Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos. 50-327 and 50-328 Daisy, Tennessee
_S_UBJ ECT:
BOMB THREAT A bomb threat was received at. the Sequoyah Nuclear Plant at 3:35 a.m.
on February 26, 1979.
The unidentified caller stated:
"I bet you can't find a bomb on the 714 (foot level of the auxiliary building).
It will go off in about thirty minutes." The licensee evacuated the auxiliary building and conducted a search with negative results.
At about 4:30 a.m. work activity was resumed.
The licensee notified the Knoxville, Tennessee FBI office at approximately 4:00 a.m. on February 26, 1979.
There has been no media interest in this event.
A news release is not planned by the NRC or the licensee.
The State of Tennessee has been informed.
The IAT has been notified.
NRC Region II (Atlanta) received notification of this occurrence by tele-phone from the licensee at 9:30 a.m. on February 26, 1979.
