PNS-79-84 This oreliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE national security or public interest sionificance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically

ANTINUCLEAR DEMONSTRATIONS SCHEDULED FOR isodOST 4 THROUGH AUGUST 9, 1979 Information has been received by the NRC regarding several antinuclear demonstrations scheduled to occur during the week beginning August 4, 1979, co=emorating the anniversity of the bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki.
Most of these demonstrations will take place at or near reactor sites and fuel cycle facilities.
The number of demonstrators is expected to range from approx-imately 25 at one site to approximately 10,000 at another.
All demonstrations are expected to be non-violent; however, some civil disobedience is to be e xoect ec.
Licensees, in conjunction with law enforcement agencies, have taken precautions to assure continued security at the affected sites.
The IAT has been notified.
This PN is being issued to alert the Commission of the possibility of publicity and nedia interest with these planned demonstrations.
