THREE MILE ISLAND NUCLEAR STATION DOCKET NOS. 50-289 AND 50-320 STEAM GENERATOR WELD RECORDS

Dear Mr. Kruesi:

You are hereby notifled of a situation which could be considered reportable in accordanea with 10 CFR 50.55 (e)(1)(1), " Conditions of Construction Permits". This situation relates to the weld records for the TMI Units 1 and 2 Steam Generators.

DESCRIPTION OF INCIDENT A recent audit of weld records conducted by B&W's CC organi::ation at the B&W Barberton works has shown that filler wire qualification test reports are incocplete for several heats of weld filler materials used in TMI Units 1 and 2 steam generator fabrication.

B&W is currently reviewing veld records to define the extent of incomplete QC documentation.

CORRECTIVE ACTION B&W has advised that they will be orecared to submit their findinas on the veld record situation later this month.

We will subnit a fitrther report on this situation upon completion of B&W's investigations.
