20555 Attention: Mrs. Elaine Hemby

Reference:

My letter dated 6 April 1979

Dear Mrs. Hemby:

Since we requested a renewal of our export license we have been accelerating our production of depleted uranium parts for the Air Force.

As a result of this, our scrap accumulation has also accelerated. We now find that we will have accumulated 20,000 kilograms of DU in early May 1979. Our California license .mits the amount of total material we can store on tha premises.

Therefore, it is important that we ship the scrap b.:k to our Canadian i,undry as soon as possible.

We would greatly appreciate it if you could issue the new license by 15 May 1979.

As you can see, we must maintain a certain flow of material in and out in order to keep our balance within our license limitations.

If it would be helpful, I would be very happy to personally come in and explain our situation.

Sincerely,

/ 4 m
