R.R.1 - Sox 336 Hollis, ME OLOh2 March 15, 1979 Chairperson, Nuclear ReEulatory Co= mission Washington, D.C. 20555
Dear Sir,
or Ms:
Congratulations on having become, as of the Ides of March, the nation's most outstanding candidate for one of Senator Proxmire's fanous awards.
In the light of the risk involved and current events, both national and international, your imperious decision to precipitately shut down for an indefinite period certain nuclear power plants may almost cer*M be recorded as the most stupid decision ever made in the history of the Nuclear Regulatory Comr.ission.
Measured in degrees of stupidity, your decision may out-rank comparable ukases previously issued by EPA, OSHA and other sciolistic monstrusities in the federal network designed to bedevil the over-indulgent taxpayers, corporate and individual.
Hapefully, your frenetic friends in the Clamshell Alliance and the Union of Concerned Scientists will have the I
opportunity to rejoice with you, if your richly deserved reward is bestowed in the manner that only Senator Proxmire f
can approximate.
I WLth very best wishes for your sudden departure.
