ORDER DEWING M7rION FOR CUTDRIANCE (May ll,1979)

On April 27, 1979, Intervenor Carolina Environ:: ental Study Group (CESG) filed a notion for continuance. The motion was based solely upcn an attached newspaper article, and stated that inerh as the Oconee Plant was shut down for several weeks this obviated any u:gency and a crmtinuance muld allcu thoughtful digestian of discovery. This motion was ob;iected to by both the Applicant (May 8) and the Staff C4ay 10,1979).

No valid ground is set forth as the basis for a continuance from the

. scheduled evid-Hary hearing set for June 19-29, 1979, by our Order of Acril 12, 1979. The record shows that CESG has been actively pursuing discovery since at least October 1978. The Environ:: ental Innact Appraisal was filed by the Staff Dececber 1978 and the Safety Evaluation Report in January 1979. There is no showing of insufficient time or opportunity for CESG to obtain discovery or to prepare its case for hearing. The notion is denied.

It is so crdered.
