Dear Mr. Partlow:
We attempt to schedule our semi-annual physical inventory at the completion of an enrichnent campaign in order to achieve a more accurate inventory and within the six month calendar requirements set forth in 10CFR70.51(e)(5)(ii).
A review of our prior inventory data indicates that on occasion it has been necessary to request exemptions in order to meet the criteria mentioned in the above paragraph.
It is for this reason that we request a thirty day leeway be allowed in starting future semi-annual inventories. We are of the opinion that the intent of 10CFR70.51(e)(5) and (4) will be met and that we will continue to achieve more accurate inventories if our existing inventory scheduling dates can be extended from our present January and July dates to the periods of June 15 to August 15 and December "E to February 15.
