Dear Mr. Haughney:
'Je are writing concerning the " defect" in the saucer in the high level waste facility UD-2 at West Valley, New York. The word " defect" is an unfortunate word. It implies that the hole in the saucer was present when the nlv faci-lity was constructed, and we know that not to be the case. The saucer was ested at the time of construction. However, it would not surprise us to know that NFS caused the hole by pouring ice cold water into a 190 F pan.
Since the NRC has an inspector on-site, we would greatly appreciate it if you could send us the Inspection Report and other information pertinent to the incident and the NRC/NFS testing program.
We would also appreciate it if the Sierra Club address on the Distribution List were changed to Box 64, Sta.G, Buffalo, N.Y. 14213, and if the two lib-raries, which served as local dockets, were again added to the NRC List:
