Dear Sirs:
The Calvert Memorial Hospital has signed an agreement to cooperate with and provide care of patients from the Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Plant operated by the Baltimore, Gas and Electric Company.
This commitment does include patients who may be injured as a result of a radiation accident.
Some questions were made by members of the medical staff for which they desire information and your reply.
These are:
1.
Is there a mandated requirement from your agency that one or more physicians be trained and avail-able promptly in the care of the radioactively contaminated patient?
2.
Is the annual " radiation drill" in which a radio-active contaminated patient is introduced in the hospital considered adequate.
3.
What guidelines are available to the hospital as well as the community which address themselves to a nuclear accident which could require evacuation of the hospital.
We would appreciate an early response to our inquiry.
Sincerely, r
