Dear Jim:

Per our telephone conversation last week, Husky has enclosed a complete set of assembly drawings for a vertical fitting of 12 inch radius. This fitting's side rails are not fabricated from edge formed channel but from three pieces of flat sheet steel welded into the configuration of a formed channel.

Drawings 24138, 24139 and 24140 indicate the shape of the three components. Drawing 24100 illustrates the assembly of the components and indicates the method of welding. The finished unit is fabricated per assembly drawing SSM1-12VI90-12.

Enclosed for your reference is a copy of an unsupported fitting illustrating the tremendous load carrying ability of formed sections.

The tray was designed to support 60 pounds per foot on a 6 foot straight section simple beam test with a saf ety f actor of 2.0. By analyzing the test results, the tray failed due to rotation at the support points (indicated by arrows) at a loading of 2000 pounds on the straight sections and 4000 pounds on the unsupported horizontal fitting. The supports were moved two feet away from the fitting to straight splice connectioni to simulate a " worst condition". This test illustrates the fact that cable tray systems, straights and fittings attached together to form a system, exhibit 95005293 R 2 6197$
