DESIGNATION OF THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSIONS FEDERAL PRESERVATION OFFICER
Dear Mr. Nelson:
This letter is to inform you that, in accordance with Section 110(c) of the National Historic Preservation Act (NHPA), 54 U.S.C. Section 306104, I have designated Mr. John Tappert as the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commissions (NRCs) Federal Preservation Officer. Mr. Tappert has recently been selected as the Director of the NRCs new Division of Rulemaking, Environmental, and Financial Support in the Office of Nuclear Material Safety and Safeguards, which is the office responsible for Federal preservation at the NRC. Mr. Tappert will also be serving as the chair of the NRCs National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) Executive Steering Committee, which consists of senior-level staff and management responsible for carrying out the agencys NEPA and NHPA obligations in accordance with NRCs statutory authority.
