2.206 PETITION TO SUSPEND RERACXING LICENSE AMENDMENT FOR ZION UNIT 2 By petition dated April 17. 1980 Catherine Quigg of Pollution & Environ-mental Problems Inc requested pursuant to 10 CFR 2.206 that the Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation suspend the nicent license amendment which authorized Zion Unit 2 to rerack its spent fuel pool until evidence presented at the Salem Unit 2 spent fuel pool proceeding is reviewed for its appli-cability to Zion Unit 2.
This office will work with your staff to develop an appropriate response.
Enclosed for your use are drafts of:

A letter to Ms. Quigg acknowledging her letter; and 2.
A notice of receipt of request for publication in the Federal Register.
If these drafts are not changed, they need not be returned to this office for concurrence. This letter is sent to acknowledge receipt of your petition of April 17, 1980, on behalf of Pollution & Environmental Problems, Inc. requesting that the Director of Nuclear Reactor Regulation suspend the license amendment issued to Commonwealth Edison to permit reracking and compaction of the Zion Unit 2 fuel pool pending review of the evidence presented during the Salem Unit 2 spent fuel pool proceeding for its applicability to Zion.
Your petition is being treated under 10 CFR 2.206 of the Commission's regulations, and accordingly, appropriate action will be taken on your petition within a reasonable time.

REQUEST FOR ACTION UNDER 10 CFR 2.206 Notice is hereby given that by petition dated April 17, 1980, Ms. Catherine Quigg of Pollution & Environmental Problems, Inc. requested that the license aniendment permitting Zion Unit 2 to rerack and compact its spent fuel pool pending a review of evidence presented in the Salem Unit 1 spent fuel pool expansion proceeding as it applies to the Zion Unit 2 spent fuel pool. This petition is being treated as a request for action under 10 CFR 2.206 of the Commission's regulations, and accordingly, action will be taken on the petition within a reasonable time.
Copies of the petition are available for inspection in the Commission's Public Document Room at 1717 H Street, N.W., Washington, D. C. 20555 and in the local public document room at Zion-Benton Public Library, 2600 Emmaus Avenue, Zion, Illinois 60099.
