May 15,1978 Generic Task No. A-12 MEMORANDUM FOR: Victor Stello, Jr., Director, Division of Operating Reactors FROM:

Darrell Eisenhut, Assistant Director for Systems &

Projects, Division of Operating Reactors

SUBJECT:

REVISION TO TASK ACTION PLAN A-12 (" FRACTURE TOUGHNESS AND POTENTIAL FOR LAMELLAR TEARING OF STEAM GENERATOR AND REACTOR COOLANT PUMP SUPPORTS")

Attached is the revised Task Action Plan for Generic Task No. A-12.

The changes are:

(1) More detailed definition of the work to be performed by Sandia Lab-oratories unoer the existing technical assistance contract.

Such redefinition did not alter the original work scope. This has been discussed with and agreed to by Sandia.

(2) Modification of the schedule to reflect that all licensee input will not be receivea until late August 1978. This is because of the difficulty in obtaining information on some older f6cilities. How-ever, it will have no impact on the progress of ongoing work. The revised schedule also presents a more realistic target date for completion, allowing more time for staff review and the drafting of applicable documents.

R. Snaider has also taken advantage of the on-going NRR/MIPC effort regarding manpower allocation and has forwarded a revised network to MIPC.

(3) Restatement of potential problems to include the interface with Generic Task No. A-2.

The revised Task Action Plan has been reviewed and concurred in by the assicned technical personnel, but was not sent to Division Directors be-cause the changes are relatively minor and require no manpower reallocation.

By copy of this memorandum, Mike Ay ock, Secretary of the Technical Activities

- Steering Committee, is requested to ffect standa
