Dear Sirs,

In your review of the Three Mile Nuclear generating plant in Pennsylvania you might want to reconsider the possibility of river flooding damaging the plant in the future.

The Susque-hanna River has been plagued with infrequent but unanticipated and enormous flooding at times, noteably in 1936 and in 1972.

The flood of the la"ar year d' 'placed people fron 20,000 homes in the dilkes-Barre area upriver from Harrisburg but also causel considerable floeding in the Harrisburg, Pa. area.

Such a flood was thought to be very unlikely to occurr, but it did.

A study of high water mar:cs and aerial photos of the Harrisburg area in 1S72 might show the low dikes of the Three '!ile Island plant to be ineffective in case of a large flash flood.

Such a flood could result in tbe strewing of nuclear fuels and waste over large areas o' land and the permanent danage to reactor cores if equipnent were to be water damaged and personnel evacuated.
