Dear Sir:
In a letter dated March 12, 1979 you transmitted IE Bulletin #79-03 titled,
" Longitudinal Weld Defects in ASME SA-312 Type 304 Stainless Steel Pipe Spcols Manufactured by Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company". Boston Edison Company was requested to take the following actions to review this problem at Pilgrim Nuc1 car Power Station:

Determine whether ASME SA-312, Type 304 or other welded (without filler metal) pipe manufactured by Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company is in use or planned for use in safety-related systems at your facility.
Response
A detailed investigative review of quality verification records of Pilgrim Station safety-related piping systems was conducted.
Gur review of safety-related stainless steel pipe quality verification records (Mill Certs. of all stainless steel pipe sizes, including 2" and smaller) indicated that we do not have any ASTE SA-312, Type 304, or other welded (without filler metal) pipe manufactured by Youngstown Welding and Engineering Company in use in safety-related systems at Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station.
Since the subject piping ts not in use or planned for use in safety-related systems at Pilgrim Station, we feel that no further response to this bulletin is necessary. However, should you have any further questions, please contact us.
