NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMisslON c
WASHINGTON. O. C. 20555 j[
MAR 2 21979 MEMORANDUM FOR: Harold R. Denton, Director, Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation FROM:
Roger 5. Boyd, Director, Division of Project Management Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation
SUBJECT:
GENERIC ISSUE PRIORITIES As directed in your January 23, 1979 memorandum, DPM has updated the forecast of resources needed to complete Task A-17, which is the only generic issue assigned to DPM as the lead Division.
This updated forecast is shown in the Enclosure.
Except as noted in the Enclosure, the resources have been committed by the organizational units.
The resources not yet fully committed o-confirmed are as follows:
a) Manpower for two branches (ICSB and PSB) in DSS for FY 1979 b) Manpower for DOR /SEB for FY 1979 and FY 1980 c) The manpower resource from EDO (Ornstein on loan to DSS) d)
Fiscal resource of $50,000 for the ORNL contract by DOR.
The manpower resources for DSS have been reported to you by memorandum dated March 5, 1979 from Roger J. Mattson.
The resources shown in the Enclosure to this tremorandum are consistent with the resources giv;r. in Roger J. Mattson's memorandum except that this memorandum reports all four quarters of FY 1979 whereas Mattson's memorandum reports the last three quarters of FY 1979.
The difference is assumed to be the manpower already expended auring the first quarter of FY 1979.
The manpower resources shown for Dr. Ornstein (ED0) should be considered as partially supplementing the uncommitted resources shown in the Enclosure for two branches of DSS; namely, the PSB and ICSB.
Therefore, the defi-ciency in committed resources is partially compensated by the loan of Dr. Ornstein to DSS.
We are still attempting to reconcile the commitment from DOR.
Since the transfer of H. Schierling from D0R to DSE, we understand that no 7 9 0 4 0 9 0ill
t,' AR 2 21279 Harold R. Denton replacement assignment has been made and there is some question of whether the SEP Branch has the available manpower to assign to this task.
Also, we understand that the $50, 000 originally planned for a special interaction study at ORNL is not available.
