During our initial review of the Minerals Exploration Anderson Project, several questions arose which must be clarified before we can continue the requested evaluation.

Please forward to the applicant the enclosed list of points which should be covered in their upcoming supplemental information submittal.

In order for us to maintain the current review schedule we would need this information by March 12, 1979.

EllCLOSURE 1 Ri u 17373 Information requested from Minerals Exploration Company for the flRC review of the Anderson Project:

1.

Provide the requested information for the flRC radiological assessment (transmitted to AAEC on January 23,1979);

2.

The environmental report was accompanied by " Design Reports" for two different tailings impoundment options.

Select an impoundment design, and submit any supplemental information which will bring the existing submittals up-to-date; 3.

Submit the plans for backfilling and lining areas of high permeability and/or groundwater exposed during excavation.

Include the permeability values of the liner material, and the seepage calculations for these lined areas; 4.

For the selected tailings impoundment option, discuss further:

a.

the proposed use of rip-rap and/or vegetation to control erosion on the reclaimed tailings area; b.

the final elevations and slopes of the reclaimed areas, including the mine waste dumps; the level of reclamation being planned for those mined areas c.

adjacent to the tailings impoundment (s).
