Gentlemen:

Haddam Neck Plant Additional Information In Reference (1), Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company (CYAPCO) submitted a license amcndment request to the NRC Staff which was initiated due to the replace-ment of eight (8) hydraulic snubbers with eight (8) mechanical snubbers at the Haddam Neck Plant.

In phone conversations on March 1,1979, the NRC Staff re-quested that CYAPCO submit additional information supporting this change.

In response to the NRC Staff requests, CYAPCO hereby submits the attached addi-tional information comparing the two types of snubbers.

In addition, CYAPC0 wishes to point out that a stress analysis of the four (4) feedwater lines in-side containment, to which the eight (8) snubbers are attached, indicates that applicable code allowable Ifmits are not exceeded even without the presence of the snubbers, either hydraulic or mechanical.

We trust that this information is responsive to your requests.

CYAPCO has concluded that with respect to the requirements of 10CFR170, this letter is covered by the remittance enclosed in Reference (1). Therefore, no payment is applicable.
