Thank you for your recent letter to Chainnan Hendrie concerning your company's impressive capabilities in the geotechnical studies area.
The charter of the Nuclear Regulatory Comission permits us to conduct research activities associated with confirmation of safety and other aspects of licensing nuclear facilities.
However, we cannot engage in power development activities and, except in a very few unique cases, our research that is contracted to commer-cial firms is restricted to firms in the United States.
