Dear Mr. Grier:
Pursuant to Connecticut Yankee Environmental Technical Specifications (ETS),
Section 3.1.1.3, Connecticut Yankee Atomic Power Company hereby forwards the following report regarding fish impingement overruns.
31, 1979, an estimated 279 spottail shiners, (Notorpis hudsonius, As of Jan.
> 6") were impinged thereby exceeding their monthly limit of 25 as specified There was no in Table 3.1-1 of Environmental Technical Specifications.
apparent cause for these occurrences which could be related to changes in plant operations.
The spottail shiner, the second most abundant resider.t in the Connecticut River is impinged periodically during the winter months, and infrequently thereafter.
It is felt that the seasonal temperature changes which occur at this time of year contribute to the increased impingement.
Spottail shiners are described in literature as small, forage-type fish which are uninportant either commercially, or for sport.
Very truly yours, A*
