This letter is to establish procedures for handling Government owned Stim contained in the NDA standards used by NRC inspectors.

The NRC is solely responsible for these standards. Although the standards may be stored in a secured area within your facility, they are exempt from regulatory requirements.

Therefore, you are not required to:

1.

Document shipment or receipt of 'such material; 2.

Carry the material on your inventon or 3.

Include the material on the physical inventory listing.

Ilhen the material is deposited in your storage area, your should:

1.

Issue a receipt to the NRC i.1spectors; and 2.

Keep the material segregated from all other material in the area.

When the NRC inspectors retrieve the materia ~1, the receipt should be returned.
