4 General Electric Company Docket No. 99900403/79-02 NOTICE OF DEVIATION Based on the results of a NRC inspection conducted on June 25-29, 1979 it appeared that certain of your activities were not conducted in full compliance with NRC requirements as indicated below:
Section 2 of topical report NED0-11209-04A commits to the imple-mentation of ANSI N45.2.13-1976.
Subsection 4.1 of ANSI N45.2.13-1976 states, "The selection of Suppliers shall be based on evaluation of their capability to provide items or services in accordance with the requirements of the precurement documents."
Contrary to the above, Marvin Engineering Co., Inc. (MEC) was selected by GE as a supplier of feedwater spargers and thermal sleeves, cicssified by the licensee (Northeast Nuclear Energy Co./
Millstone Unit 1) as Safety Category 1, without an evaluation of MEC's capability to provide Safety Category 1 items.
