Dear Mr. Denton:
SURRY POWER STATION FIRE PROTECTION MODIFICATIONS Ammendment Nos. 54 and 53 to the Surry Power Station Operating License require facility modifications for fire protection.
Attached for your information is the Project Status Summary.
Specific information regarding the status of the projects with target due dates of January 31, 1980 are given below:
(a) The design package for the Air Flow Detectors (item 3.1.2) is now complete and the modification is in the construction stage.
The modification is expected to be complete February 29, 1980.
(b) The fire extinguishers required by item 3.1.13 have been pu: chased and installation is 75 percent complete. The remaining extinguishers will be located and mounted by February 29, 1980.
(c) The proposed technical specification concerning the status of the auxiliary feedwater pumps is being prepared and will be submitted no later than February 29, 1980.
We will continue to inform you of our progress in implementing the requirements and will be glad to answer any questions you may have.
