PRELIMINARY HDTIFICATION Jdly 12, 1979 PREL.IPINARY NOTIFICATION OF SAFEGUARDS EVENT--
PNS-79-7.6 This oreliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of events of POSSIBLE natio tal security or public interest sianificance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staf f as of this date.

SUBJECT:
BOMB THREAT At 6:32 a.m. on July 12, 1979, a bomb threat was received by phone by the Daniel International Corporation security guard on gate No.12 (main gate) at the Wolf Creek site.
The. male caller calmly and distinctly asked, "Is this Daniels International?" The guard replied in the affirmat've and the caller then said, "A bomb is planted in the job site and will go off this morning."
He then hung uo.
Workers were not permitted to enter the plant until a search was made of each work area.
It yielded negative results.
The Coffee County sheriff was notified at the time of the call and par-ticipated in the search.
The FBI in Kansas City and the Dallas office of the ATF were notified.
RIV received preliminary notification at 8:00 a.m. by the on-site RIV Project Inspector.
No press' release was made or planned by the licensee nor NRC.
However, a group of Kansas State legislators will tour the Wolf Creek site today and there
~
will be press coverage of'this event.
The site construction progress is currently reported as 33% complete.
There is no TNM on site.
IAT was notified.
