DPR-50 Iccket No. 50-239 In respcnse to your letter cf December 17, 1975--wherein you request a schedule for cur implementaticn cf the TMI-2 CCA prog"~ % T'4I-1--it appears as though scre confusion may exist with regard to the intent of cur May 23, 1975 cc itment (ref: cur letter GQL 1090, attached as encl. (1) ). You will please recall that in the referenced letter we stated that "with regard to sutrissicn of a schedule for applying the TMI-2 program tc TMI-1, please be advised that we intend to submit such a s;hedule within 30 days fc11cving
- IRC approval of the I'4I-2 program." To elabcrate further on the meaning of this statement, it was cur intent to submit the subject schedule within 30 days folleving :IdC apprcval of the TMI-2 program fer T'4I-2.
- Further, you make no reference to h171ng granted such approval, and for the same reascns as were expressed in our '<ay 23, 1975 sutrittal, we de not yet feel it is prudent for us to sutrit the subject schedule fcr TMI-1.
'4e of course realice that final apprcval of the T'4I-2 CCA prcgra may not actually occur until the date on which we are granted an operating license for T'4:-2 (currently schedule'i fcr July 1,19T7 ). 'de also understand, hcvever, that we vill be required to implement the TMI-2 CGA progra= (at TMI-2) by no later than 90 days pricr to licensing. There fore, in re-reviewing the intent Of cf cur criginal cc==itment, we do feel that the TMI-2 program should be in sufficiently near final for: by that date (i.e. the date on which the TMI-2 plan is implemented at TMI-2) so as to enable us to accelerate submissicn of an implementation schedule fcr TMI-l tc within 30 days fc11cving that same date. In sm - ry, please understand that we do intend to submit a schedule for implementaticn of the T'4I-2 CCA prcgram to TMI-l within 30 days after the THI-2 CCA progrs= is implemented at TMI-I. 1484 341 w
