Docket Nos. 50-522, 50-523
"+
Dear Mr. Leed:
N-This acknowledges your letter of October 12, 1979.
==
11 Enclosed are three subpc na forms of the Nuclear Regulatory
':t Commission. These forms should be completed for each of the three
~
persons whom you wish to subpoena in keeping with your letter and m
returned to me for signature, together with a " showing of general relevance of the testimony or evidence sought".
10 CFR $ 2. 720(a).
Upon receipt of this showing for each proposed subpoena and properly completed subpoena forms, I would anticipate signing and returning the forms to you for serving. Your attention is invited to the NRC regulation on subpoenas at 10 CFR $2. 720.
Your letter also asked me "to formally request the presence of the following experts", and you identified twenty-two persons by
+
name. I am unaware of any NRC regulation providing for the sort

of request which you made. Further, your letter did not explain P..[
the reasons fer the request as related to each of the named twenty-two persons, and the request itself was inadequately defined.
E.
In our telephone conference call yesterday afternoon, I suggested that you try to coordinate the NRC staff's interests with SCANP's interests in the maMer of your request.
