M ius.dT LAKE MICH tGAN Gc0NisiCAL SURVEYS w / bi1 Appendix 2Q of the Haven Site Addendum to the Preliminary Safety Analysis Report contains an Engineering Gaophysical Report descrioing studies and analyses done by Fairfield Iruustries, Inc. with regard to i.he presence or absence of faulting in Lake Ilichigan necr the eastern shore. As part of these studies, mcps of the top of rock and a subrock reflector were developed frca data taken during seismic surveys by converting time intervals to depth using the velocity of sound in water, sedimants and r,ock.
This report was made available tc Dr. R. J. Hold of the U. S. Geological Survey ia cor.nectica with his studies of other Lake ilichigan. data. As a result of his review, Dr. '.;cid has questioned the veiccities used to. calculate th2 depths of the top of rock and subrock refisctors and believes the mcppcd surfcces cay be too deep. Subsequent review by our consultants has confirmed Dr. Uold's observations.
It is believed that the top of rock and the suorock reflector ny be about 75 to ISO feet and 200 feet higher, respectively, than indicated in Appendix 2Q.
Uhlle these velocity discrepancies may change the indicated depths to the top of rock and reflector surfaces, Dr. Wold and our consultants are in agreement that the changes should not affect the basic ccnclusicns of the report.
Revised maps will be obtained and the Site Addendum will be amended to incorprate the revised information at an appropriate time. Should you have questions, please contact us.
