Georgia, and City of Dalton, Georgia (the licensee) for the opera-tion of the Edwin I. Hatch Nuclear.'?lant, Units Nos. 1 and 2 (the facilities) located in Appling County, Georgia.

The proposed amendment would allow an increase in storage capacities of the spent fuel pools of frca 540 to 3,181 fuel assemblies in Hatch No.1 pool and fren 1,120 to 2,845 fuel assen-blies in Eatch No. 2 pool.

On that date, a pe:ition to in_arvene was received from Georgians Against Nuclear Energy GANE), which was anended on October 4, 1979 to include an affidavit of a cenber claining to reside approximately 44 miles from the facilities.

The petition has been opposed by the licensee.

An Atomic Safety and Licensing Board (3 card) was designated to rule upon intervention petitions and recuests for hearings.

The members of the Boari are Mr. Glenn O. 3right, Dr. Richard F. Cole and Mr. Herbert Grossman, who will serve as Chairnan of the Board.

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 C.F'.R. 52.751(a) the Board will conduct a special prehearing conference begirning at 9:30 a.m. on November 20, 1979, at Richard B. Russell Federal Su?lding, L. D. Stiet Auditorium, Lower Plaza, A:lanta, Georgia 4

The parties to this proceeding, or their respective counsel, are directed to attend.
