e SUPPLDENTAL HYDROLCGIC ENGIIEERING SGMY THREE MILE ISLAND UNIT 1 D0c. NO. 50-289 The record fleod of June, 1972 resulted in a peak flow of approxi=ately 1,000,000 cubic feet per second. Parts of the island in the vicinity of the cooling towers were flooded because downstream portions of the levee were unccmpleted.
~
Frca preliminary high water level and flow rate estimates, the adequacy of tne applicant's flood design bases has been re-analf::ed and found conservative. The necessity for the applicant's cccmitment to inspect and repair, as necessary, the levee system annually and after every major flood was indicated by the minor riprap displacement that occurred as a result of the June,1972 fleed, and the vegetation which has grown en the levee face since constructicn of completed portions.
