Enforcement Branch Division of Compliance VENDOR INSIECTION REPORT (B&W 70/1) - BABCOCK & WILCOX, Mr. VERNON, INDIANA The enclosed report of an inspection of the Babcock & Wilcox Company (B&W) in Mt. Vernon, Indiana on February 9-11, 1970, is forwarded for infor etion. This inspection was made to examine the fabrication of the Turkey Point 4 and Three Mile Island 1 reactor pressure vessels.
The Turkey Point 4 vessel, nearing completion, is expected to be in full ec=pliance with the requirements of the ASME Section III Code.
We base this conclusion upon our examinations of the vessel and the fabrication records.
~4e con.tinue to experience difficulty with record traceability on B&W contracted vessels, including the Three Mile Island 1 vessel. However, until we can ascertain noncompliance with a specific Code requirement, no specific action appears to be warranted.
