Dear Mr. Gossick:

I want to alert you that we will no longer have a Bureau of Radiological Health representative in your command center covering the Three-Mile Island incident. We will remove our representative effective 5 p.m.,

April 4,1979. We have decided on this because we have established communications with the Nuclear Regulatory Comission operations at the Pennsylvania site and because we feel that the 24-hour duty station in our operations in Rockville can handle any requests and can reach

=

any of our key personnel. We will maintain this 24-hour operation until further notice at 12720 Twinbrook Parkway, Rockville, Maryland at the following phone: 443-4690.

J'.'._

We will also provide you, on a daily basis, with copies of the FDA milk, food and water sampling results for the previous day and any other activities of HEW which are pertinent to this incident.

We understand that these will be included in your daily Preliminary Notification of Event or Unusual Occurrence (PNO). We would anticipate that our data

~ill be received by you around mid-morning and cover the 24-hour period w

ending 8:00 a.m.

We would like to continue to receive copies of the PN0's from your Bethesda command center.

If there is other pertinent environmental data that you receive that is not included in the PNO, we would also appreciate being kept informed.

g il We can anticipate that there will be a large volume of environmental, f"

milk and food samples collected in the months ahead from various agencies and I am sure as we all become better organized and this information becomes centralized and readily accessible through automatic data process-

ing, all of our tasks will be easier.
