Dear Mr. O'Reilly:

SEQUOY.UI WCLEAR PLtNT UNITS 1.U.D 2 - VIBRATION IU RhR FIPILG -

NCR CEB 79 SECOND INTERIM REFORT The subject deficiency was initially reported to URC-01E Inspector C. R. McFarland on February 8, 1979. An interin report was aub: itted on March 9, 1979. We expect to submit our nest report by June 8, 1979.

Tbc variable spring supports have been added to the valve operators, and a pipe support has L in installed to alleviate the pipe vibration problen.

Recesting at the system indicates that the clanging noise and the pipe vibration problems have bcen resolved. However, ccvere cavitation cccurs during certain modes of operation. We are investigating the possibility of operating only in modes where cavitation does not occur.

If you have any questions concerning this satter, pleasa ;et in touch with M. R. Wisenburg at FTS 854-2531.

Very truly yours, J. E. Gilleland Assistant Manager of Power cc: Mr. John G. Davis, Acting Director Office of Inspection and Enforcement U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, DC 20555 gol1 S Io m~ ~ , a m ' _ .' m.
